As much as we enjoy sports and exercise, it can sometimes cause injuries which can be acute or chronic.
An acute injury is usually the result of a sudden awkward movement or impact. A chronic sports injury tends to develop over time, often due to stressing the same joint or muscles.
The rate of recovery of acute injuries can be increased by reducing joint swelling, preventing joint stiffness and muscle weakness. Early physiotherapy can help to minimise tissue damage and facilitate a quick return to active sport. Chronic injuries may be prevented and treated by identifying and addressing the underlying cause.
